Marielle Amani Thete

Director, US Government Relations, ONE Campaign

Marielle Amani Thete serves as a Director of U.S. Government Relations in the North America Advocacy Department at the ONE Campaign. She leverages her bipartisan, bicameral, and broad U.S. government relationships, and ties to the African continent to influence US-Africa policy, and engage thought-leaders and African leaders, particularly on agriculture, food security, and nutrition and education.

Prior to joining ONE, Marielle served as a Program Manager for CARE’s Learning Tours, a program that hosts high-level delegations in countries where CARE works in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Asia, so they can experience the impact of U.S. investments and foreign aid on the ground while connecting directly with program participants. In this role, she regularly met with Members and staff of Congress while managing recruitment of delegates for the trips, managed trip development and planning, logistics, including pre-advances, execution, and staffing.

Marielle wore many hats throughout her time at CARE, including serving as women’s health advocate on the Government Relations team; sharing insight on refugee resettlement with the Programming team; and developing updates and proposals for donors. In addition, Marielle worked for U.S. Senator Angus King (I-ME), where she held several positions, including the Senator’s State Scheduler and served as the scheduler for his 2018 re-election campaign.

Marielle holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Political Science from Wheaton College (MA). She is fluent in French and Lingala and is proficient in Spanish, Swahili, and Arabic. Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Marielle grew up in Portland, Maine, where she arrived at age six as a refugee. She lives in Washington, D.C.

Covid Protocol

Action Against Hunger understands the power of bringing people together in person and the importance of doing so safely. We encourage you to stay home if you are not feeling well or have symptoms of any kind so we can keep everyone healthy as we convene. While masking is optional at the REACH, we will have a limited supply of K95 masks and COVID tests available onsite.

On each day of the event, we request at check-in:

Proof of a day-of negative Covid self-test (via photo)

Note: Please self-test prior to your arrival at The REACH at the Kennedy Center, not onsite.

Our team is closely monitoring the evolving global health recommendations and will update attendees with the most up-to-date protocols as we near the event. For additional information, The REACH at the Kennedy Center's health and safety protocols can be found here.
