Blythe Thomas

Initiative Director, 1,000 Days

Blythe Thomas is the Initiative Director at 1,000 Days, an Initiative of FHI Solutions, working to win support for investments in the nutrition and well-being of mothers, babies, and toddlers in the U.S. and around the world. The 1,000 days from pregnancy to age two offer a crucial window of opportunity to create brighter, healthier futures. Nutrition, in particular, plays a foundational role in a child’s development and her country’s ability to prosper.

As Director, Blythe is focused on growing the Initiative’s influence and shaping the national dialogue with media, policymakers, partner organizations and parents. She manages fundraising, strategic planning, business development and an amazing team of advocates on issues related to food, nutrition, maternal, infant and young child health and development in the first 1,000 days.

Prior to joining 1,000 Days, Blythe was the Chief Marketing Officer at the Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA), a non-profit under the honorary leadership of Former First Lady Michelle Obama, focused on creating better food and more movement for all families. Prior to PHA, Blythe held progressive leadership roles in marketing and philanthropy at the American Red Cross National Headquarters, The Nature Conservancy and Kansas Health Foundation.

Blythe received her bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Broadcasting at Oklahoma State University. She lives in Arlington, VA, with her two sons. Outside of FHI Solutions, Blythe spends as much time with her teenage kids as they will tolerate! She also enjoys running, being in nature, singing in a band and hanging out with the family hedgehog, Piper.

Covid Protocol

Action Against Hunger understands the power of bringing people together in person and the importance of doing so safely. We encourage you to stay home if you are not feeling well or have symptoms of any kind so we can keep everyone healthy as we convene. While masking is optional at the REACH, we will have a limited supply of K95 masks and COVID tests available onsite.

On each day of the event, we request at check-in:

Proof of a day-of negative Covid self-test (via photo)

Note: Please self-test prior to your arrival at The REACH at the Kennedy Center, not onsite.

Our team is closely monitoring the evolving global health recommendations and will update attendees with the most up-to-date protocols as we near the event. For additional information, The REACH at the Kennedy Center's health and safety protocols can be found here.
